..Silver UMax Air Test

nad

New member
Wandered over two old house yards.Found a few things, but less than expected.. Sensitivity set at 5 to 6......Later, decided to crank it up as far as the dial would turn at some other sites..got a few more goodies, doing better. Today, decided to air test a cent and clad quarter at a 6 setting, and full dial..The battery has about 25 hours on it, and still seems to be good..Cent at #6 setting gave 4 1/4 inches, at full dial ,it went to 5 1/2 inches..The quarter at #6 setting was 5 1/4 inches, and went to 6 5/8 inches with full turn..I am thinking that I dug a barber dime at 4 plus inches..my second yard out...Will try the air test again with a new battery....,Think I'll wander back over both yards to see if the extra" half inch" depth a 1266 X Fisher has ,will net me any more old coins...Are my numbers low,or ball park for the Silver UMax? I may be lucky that I haven't had the time to work over any more sites..Thanks , cordially NAD

Cancel these numbers.I re did this test the way it was origionally run, with cheap earphones , now turned up.Got closer to the new numbers posted later..Cordially NAD

Hay Nad,

My Silver Sabre uMax gets 7" on a penny.

That's without headphones and old batteries.

I would think the Silver uMax would do as well.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

yeah mine gets 71/2 " no phones on an old victorian penny stock coil , I dont have a US quarter to test but I would guess that an AU 20 cent would be of simial size 28mm dia , sens @ 10 , in disc mode = 8" in AM sens @10 = 9"

Coil.

It gets better depth with the stock 8" coil.

Maybe you should check it out.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

Your numbers sound about right. Tesoro has pretty tight quality control.

Keep in mind that as you crank the SENS into the hot zone, you respond to ALL the targets beneath your coil.
Do that in a trashy site, or worse, where there is iron you either don't know about or think you've DISC'ed out - and you may get results you hadn't planned on.
Air tests can be misleading for that reason, among others.
