Silver Surf Church at Horseshoe Bay

After some success at Horseshoe Bay yesterday I decided to attend Surf Church at Horseshoe Bay this morning for the 7:01 AM low tide. Never a fan of early mornings I dutifully set the alarm for 5:30 so I'd be awake enough to drive to Horseshoe by 6:30.(no coffee - no drive):goodnight:

There were lots of walkers on the beach by the time I got there a little before 7am and this time I wore my wetsuit as I planned to be in the water for a few hours. I was able to get out a little deeper than yesterday and was immediately rewarded with a 925 butterfly ring, then some clad, followed by the 925 love knot ring and finally a costume ring set with rhinestones.(I think it's costume but have to wait for the Princess' assessment when she gets back from the spa, she's way better than a jeweller at determining jewellery quality, must be a woman thing) I moved back into shallower water and found a spanish 1 Euro coin and then a broken 925 bracelet that will be easy to fix. I also eyeballed a pair of sunglasses that turned out to be FENDI oversized designer sunglasses, retail in Bermuda is a little over $300 and not a scratch on them; no luck finding the Maui Jim's I was asked to look for yesterday though.

A couple of soon to weds showed up with the bridesmaids for pictures on the beach, fortunately it was cool at this hour so the poor guy didn't melt in his gorilla suit. Ain't Love Grand!:inlove::thumbup:

After 3 hours, I was bone tired and ready for breakfast so I turned the jeep for home and some of my homemade breakfast burritos, Delicious!

Cheers,

You did well BDA.. You ever see sharks cruising around while you are in the water?

Hahahaha......surf church....I get into the spirit of it......I think I am going nuts.......My posts are getting wierder by the day......I need to get out my self and I will be ok......Love your posts BDA.....Wish you luck!....My sister would love the butterfly ring......she has a wierd thing about butterflys......

Only once up close but once is enough, Craig. There's a lot of deep water around Bermuda so there are a lot of big sharks, mostly tigers. They rarely come inside the reef but it does happen so you've got to be on your toes. I thought I saw one the other day while hunting at my beach at dusk.:yikes: Just the outline of a fin but it got all of my attention immediately, I looked and looked to see if it was approaching and then the sun caught it and it shone green - it was a long neck heinekein bottle floating in the waves 100 feet away in deep water. I had to chuckle to myself but it shows how conscious of it you become.

Cheers,

I'd be a fulltime wet sand hunter I couldn't deal with that lol..

Glad to see you finding alot of stuff(as usual). The wife and I want to come to Bermuda for a long over-due vacation. I would like to bring my machine, if you think that's a good idea. Bottom line is--we're going somewhere in the next few months. I know that you know the place pretty good, and was wondering what the chances would be of a "quick-tripper" having much luck? Thanks.........

You be careful pards! Those long neck sharks can be down right dangerous. When they attack you end up in a vacant lot without any pants on.

My Princess claimed the FENDIs, took all of 5 seconds. Apparently she's misplaced her new Maui Jims so I hope she finds them at work today or it's a break even deal for me. It tough when you hunt and only break even.:sadwalk::rofl:

Cheers,

The best time to come to Bermuda in my mind is November, the weather is like early fall and the rates have dropped. Sort of like turning back the clock on the seasons by 2 months. I'd definitely take my detector along on a trip to Bermuda, beaches are open to detecting after October 31st anyways. If you decide to come let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Cheers,

You'd like these burritos, Max. Lots of extra spicy sausage meat fried up with eggs, white cheese and salsa, then rolled up in corn tortillas fresh out of the oven. Delicious!

Cheers,

Thanks, Eric! I have accumulated alot of vacation time, and it's one of those situations where, if I don't go somewhere different, I'll stay here and go crazy! I'll probably take your advice and go in the Fall(if we can go at all). Good Luck hunting!.........
