Silver streak alive and almost another gold

Goes4ever

New member
Last nite after work met up with BadJim for another door knock session, got a few items, nothing to brag about though...lol

Not sure what the initial thing is, but I really like it, looks like it may of had a pin on the back, any idea for sure what it is?

Got 2 more wheats, waahHOO..lol see the one with rust across the face? it gave me a signal of 01-36, I thought I was digging an indian, but it was this wheat with a rusty nail laying right on top, gave a solid tone from both ways, so those of you who skip numbers like this............... your missing goodies!

Got a rosie to keep my current silver streak going.....yeah!

And as for the almost got, I got yet another ring that is CLEARLY gold plated, has an interesting hallmark inside, a crown the number 18 and a cat or a lion, can't tell for sure, rang up like a wheat penny, so I assume it is copper. You can see how it is nice and shiny inside but has corrosion on the outside where gold plating wore off. Can anyone give any info from the hallmark?

I found a ring with the same hallmark. I've always assumed it was gold but with a poorer alloy. Mine date from at least 80 years old for sure and with a good chance that it is even older as the area I pulled it from has had nothing there for 80 years. Ill be interested to see if anyone knows the hallmark translation.

Have you posted in on other forums?

Now Goes, stop havin so much fun would ya?

wanna see something interesting? look at the hallmark on this ring I dug back in 2008 !!!! look familiar? and it too was plated, I had this one tested back in 2008 because it looked gold even on outside......

Congrats! Still trying to find the gold here.

Check out THIS page. According to this source, your hallmark would be for a British, 18k and silver(or 18k and 22k) composition with the age ranging from 1798-1974.

Now, I am obviously not sure that this is what you have, but all the details of your hallmarks can be found under the "Gold and Platinum Marks" 3/4 down the page.

Hope this helps and congrats! Either way, a ring is a ring. Let us know what you find.

I don't know where you live, but the pin coould be from a university like; Oregon State U or Ohio State U.

Hey Guy, "Almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades... lol. Just kidding as I really enjoy following your travels and I have never known a more dedicated hunter, I envy you so much as I can't get out any more to enjoy my lifelong adventure especially since I've only had my Etrac for less than a year.
Best of luck and I will be watching. Since the early 1970's I have found 17 gold rings, 42 silver rings and over 1500 silver coins and I refuse to sell or trade them in but when I die, being 70 years old now what happens ??...I am confused what to do.
