Silver...Silver...Silver and that #$#$dy shaft/cams

Hi guys

I have had a few quiet days at work so managed to get in the saltwater 3 more times...at three more locations. No gold this few days...just a silver 1915 coin, silver ring, and a nice silver bracelet. (Heaps of lead sinkers).

The ATX can hit a coin sized object deep!

The leds (lights) underwater are awesome as is the pinpoint button (in conjunction with lights).

Anyway onto the "shaft and cam" issue. After three days in the water and 30 minutes ( or more ) after each hunt trying to free the cams, getting scratched up shafts and very annoyed I may have found a solution!

A SPEARGUN COVER! Made in New Zealand of course....

This is a 'tube' of wetsuit material. Remove the atx coil shaft. Pull the wetsuit material tube to the bottom of the lowest shaft and velcro in place.

Re attach the coil and shaft to atx.

Extend the shaft.

Pull up the "sleeve" to the control handle of the atx and velcro in place covering the top cam.

As the material can stretch you can still adjust the length of shaft underwater. You can still tighten and loosen the cams.

RESULT

totally clean. No grit or 99% less. Easy to move shaft. Adds a little to much buoyancy in strong currents. Adds a little much water resistance in big waves. However for hunting in calm conditions for several hours in the water... overall awesome.

Will post a picture.

Waiting pictures, available suppliers, maybe you? for us poor Yanks, on the other side of the world.

3M non slip deck tape until we get the coil covers! P's as I am in NZ may need someone to ship me one when available! We can do a swap. I can send you the "thing to protect your shaft"

Love the 3M tape idea. I am using automobile wire harness wrap and electrical tape until the covers open cover come our way.
Thanks for the pics. I have found neoprene soda can tube, similar and an OMER sleeve that looks better, available here in the US.
I am thinking for $35 and a couple of Velcro straps it might work.

I'm off for Spring Break with my girls (14 & 11) and we are going to the beach. I'm thinking about trying Sara wrap around the cam locks to see if it will keep the salt out.
