Silver Sabre Umax Finds Some Stash

Sven

Well-known member
Picked up this Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax for a local fellow, had it shipped up to Canada from California.
It's an older Tesoro but one of the better models has now has some cult status........

Took it across the street to the school that still sprouts claddage from steel seedlings.....................must be something in the soil.
Tested it out and it works great......................you know I need to get another Tesoro for myself. Look at all those coins I missed
with other brand machines.

Only thing, failed to mention to him after dropping it off, that once you enter the Kingdom of Tesoro, you can never really leave.
:lmfao: He'll be hooked on Tesoros shortly...........

That's a lot of coins. I'm very impressed with your trash pile.

Sven , looks like some great finds, and the machine is doing good in that spot for you . if a gold ring is their its yours,

I've posted before - the SSumax is one of my favorite detectors. Your experience show why.

Too hard the cat's out of the bag.
By the way the new owner, former Ace 250 user, goes out and finds over two days approx $18 in change and a silver chain.
Knew I should have kept it.......LOL
He's hooked on Tesoros now, he told his brother to go and get one.................

I'm pretty tight lipped about how good Tesoro detectors work.

I'm out the door!:detecting:

Sven , was that $18 in Canadian clad?

I started with the ace a well , let's just say we didn't bond well :rage:

I also can't wait to get another Tesoro. , only prob is there's no dealers on the west coast and I Never see any used tesoros here .... :(

I own a SS Umax, which I bought new in 1996. I still use it on occassion, even though I also own one of the newer more sophisticated models (different brand).
I love it for it's simplicity and "turn on and go" ability. It still is a great coinshooting detector, whether on a beach or inland.
One of the great things about it is that it is guaranteed for life by Tesoro, even though it is a discontinued model. I have sent it in to them twice for minor repairs (a coil issue which they replaced for free, and then an issue which turned out to be my headphones).
A Gentlemen named Rusty was an enormous help.

Yup $18 CA clad.
Shawn from our other forum loves it. Mothballing or selling his Ace 250........ He's been converted...LOL

You don't see many used ones, they are still fairly uncommon up here, so I get a kick out of showing folks here how well these (so called toys) work.
I have to get all mine from the US. If your looking for a second one, there's plenty of forum members who will have one they will part with old and new.
Just figure shipping to Canada from the US is going to be roughly $40US for a Tesoro via USPS Priority International.

I started life with a Garrett GTAX 500. It had a display and told me exactly what was in the ground. It beeped, I looked at the display, and to my amazement it told me exactly how much money was down there. All joking aside, it was a good detector and I made some impressive finds.

Fast forward 2.5 years ago. Accidentally bought a like new Silver uMax off the big auction place on a make an offer bid. I wondered what the hell I was gonna do with a two knob detector with no display! I started by reading the forums, quit crying, and started using it. After about 10 hours, I was hooked on this little wonder of a detector.

Fast forward 2 years ago. I figured if the Silver uMax was that good, the other Tesoro's must also be good. I ordered a Tigershark. I was in the water when there was still ice floating around. I quickly learned the Tigershark is a Silver uMax on steroids.

Fast forward present day. Just ordered ANOTHER Tesoro, the Tejon. I currently have about 12 hours on the Tejon and just can't believe how deep that thing is in my mild soil. It may be intended for relics, BUT it is a great coin machine.

So here I am detecting with no display, loving every minute of it. I hunted one park last year that the park ranger told me he doubted I would find anything because this park has been hunted for as long as he could remember. I found over 250 coins in that park with my Silver. He couldn't believe it and said that most detectors will tell what is below the coil. I kindly told him that is why there are still so many coins in the ground here.

Next year holds another detector for me. Time to try something that is different. Oh, and that would be another Tesoro, a Deleon! I have no interest in jumping brands because I now know what works really well for me. I enjoy using Tesoro's and will stick to them. Even adding another Tesoro, I will not sell any of them.

People can use whatever works well for them, be whatever brand and model they chose. If they are happy with their set up and doing well, life is good for them. Life is good for me when I use Tesoro.
