I recently traded a Bounty hunter 505 for a Silver Sabre Plus, that needed some TLC. broken lower shaft. its repaired. hats off to Dave and the boys at first Texas on the 505. it was a freshwater beach monster! but the young man with the SS plus was just not an avid user. i know the former owner of machine well, he sold me my first and second Tesoros, which i still own! he regretted selling it. i had looked at this machine on Craig's list, and after being posted, he broke the shaft somehow, and pulled it. i was hunting with friend and the young man appeared on beach. i approached when i saw what he had. it was the same guy. he liked the modern 505, it was holding its own against friends dfx fairly well, the price was right as they say on the 505. not as advanced choices or id, i could not disc out a zinc, probably me, but by golly if it said it was a zinc, it was. the freshwater wet sand was great to hunt in. we compared, and i offered a trade. my friend runs a pawn shop, and 505's appear from wally world often enough as well as tracker IV, via wally worlds. i just wanted the older legend. first time out a silver wash ring, not worth anything but good omen. pocket full of clad. the 505 was tearing the beach up. the sabre did the local tot lot fine! will test it there at lake beach Wednesday if rain subsides. the value was comparable, and i would not hesitate to recommend a 505 to anyone on a budget or beginner who cant throw a grand around. again hats off Dave J! i just wanted to KEEP MY HERD PURE, and switches and knobs rule as someone says on the forum. i am far sighted, so meters that are digital are a problem. the tones, multiple were great! but learning on a Tesoro i dig sharp sounds anyhow, run very little disc. so big box eldo, amigo II, and silver sabre plus whats next!
