turn-on-and-go (aka preset Ground Balance) detector. One that I am still looking for (in clean, 'as-new' condition) to have in my arsenal as a loaner-unit for friends, family and property owner's use. I used to use a Bandido II µMAX (pronounced microMAX as 'µ' is a "micro" symbol and not a letter 'u') and a Silver
Sabre µMAX (not the current Silver µMAX) and carried them with me all the time in my personal detector arsenal .... and the coins and jewelry recoveries were impressive.
But to find more coins and jewelry I hunt more sites where they are likely to be, and at times those sites can have some ferrous-based trash. Wide Scan coils, usually, do not handle iron rejection as well as a Concentric coil will. One other problem is using an accessory coil on a Tesoro preset GB models because, quite often, if you're in any challenging ground the optional coil might not be a good match for the preset Ground Balance and it will call for internal trimmer adjustment ... with all the coils you have, so that the detector is 'tuned' or 'calibrated' for a functional GB with
all the search coils to be used.
I had a couple of the Clean Sweep coils and worked them on several Tesoro models, and to be honest, I was never satisfied with their performance. One was not enjoying clean ferrous/non-ferrous Discrimination, and another was poor detection depth. Also, the weight and balance wasn't enjoyable and in higher-use sites, more likely to have jewelry loss, it also had more targets and the bigger Clean Sweep coil couldn't pick between all the trash well.
For "coverage" combined with "performance' you will find that many people like the open-center round 8" Concentric coil, and I do as well. I will say that I also enjoy the 8X9 spoked coil for general searching and coverage of a site and prefer either of these for more open areas over the Clean Sweep coil. Most of the time, however, I find more coins and far more jewelry using one of the smaller Concentric coils. For decades it was the 7" but now I rely on the 6" Concentric (Tesoro calls it a 5.75, but every ruler I have used measure it at 6") coil for almost all of my Tesoro detector use.
I would suggest just using your stock coil and being more attentive to site selection than investing in an awkward coil.
