I took my 14 tear old son and his friend Justin to the State Fair yesterday I stayed with them for as long as I could. Had to go the car and take a nap.:sleepy:

When they got through I took them to the blown safe site. My son took a nap while Justin and I got to dig some musket balls. Justin was really excited to be having his finds.:clapping:

Justin spent the night and this morning I tried to get them to go MDing without success. I didn't want to leave while company was there. This afternoon I decided to go a playground for about an hour and a half before I had to take Justin home. I took my SS Umax because I have a fealing that thing is a Park Hound. I went three and one half miles from my house and saw this lady outside and I stopped to talk to her because she lives on the old highway. She wanted to talk about every thing................. I finally got to ask her if I could metal detect In a small field beside her house . She said I could. And I thanked her and said I couldn't stay long because of my son's friend.

I was in this small area for about 30 minutes and this is what I found

David, looks like you are in a great place! The mini balls appear to be .58 caliber "3 ringers" and they look like "drops"
too. Keep hitting it hard. If it's a camp site there will be buttons also and maybe that ever elusive buckle. That shovel handle is neat too and I had my hands on one just like it today. I use the one here that looks like that one to shovel rice bran out for the deer. I bet the shovel and handle and blade part weighs between 8-10 pounds. I dont know what year they were made but, buddy, they was making shovels back then. Great finds...d2

The one on the right I found over a month ago and several miles away. It measures almost nine sixteenths of an inch. The one on the left I found today and seems to measure well over nine sixteenths of an inch but a little less than five eighths of an inch. Can you tell the caliber from that?

Ha D2, a square acre is 208.71 feet on each side. I had to think about it.

I would think they are 58 caliber. The length can vary a little. And I also would agree they are "drops". Interesting area you are in. Go back and work it real slow.

One on the right is a "Pin cone Sharps" and a .54 caliber from the looks of it and the other is a .58...d2
