Silver ring with Vaquero today...

New member
Out playing with my older Vaquero for just a short while today (the one with big thumb wheel) and beeped a 925 ring, and a small handful of coins. One wheaty ('48D), and a nice Chucky Cheese token...

My first silver ring with the Vaquero / 5.75DD. :wiggle:

Nice just picked up a vaquero, excited to see what it can do just beepin around when not using my other machines.

After fighting Fishers all these years, my Vaquero is fun to use. Superlight, deep, superquiet, just plain awesome. I like to run lowest discrimination and crank threshold up to around 2 o'clock. Maybe even turn ground balance counterclockwise 1/4-1/2 turn after ground balancing. Darn thing runs quiet! Have to check the rivets on my boots every once in a while lol. Fishers chatter all day long, wore me out reswinging every beep.

Pinpointing is tough for me as the Vaquero doesn't have no-motion detect as I'm use to, but I'm getting better after practice.

Theres been a lot of silver rings found with Vaqueros on here lately .Coincidence ? I dont think so .

I think quite a few folks are liking their Vaqueros!

Today, I've found more coinage in two hours with my Vaquero than I usually dig in twice that amount of time! This spot has coins every few feet, and in two hours, I pulled up around $4.00 in mostly clad, but also found three wheaties, one of 'em a 1919 date and two from the forties. Found a really odd charm (think that's what it is) and one of those flattened souvenier pennies. I'll do another couple hours here, tomorrow afternoon. There must be some old silver and jewelery around... I'll post a couple pics when I get back home. ^_^

Some lovely finds, may take my UK version of the Vaquero out over the weekend, not used it a great amount of late, but i must admit i do really like how light it is even with the 11''x8'' coil on it.I find the Deteknix wireless headphones work well on this machine, does away with the wire and during the summer here they are not horrible to wear like full cup ones would be.

I'm hoping that with the DD I can just wiggle off to pinpoint like with the deus and pro.

Not too bad with the small 5.75 DD, but a bit tougher with the 11x8. Pinpointing is not easiest with a DD, but X'ing the target with the all-metal pinpoint takes just a while to get used to.

All of these were beeped from an old picnic spot. Went back 3 times, and stayed a couple hours each. I hang my head in shame; no silver. Still, NINE wheaties found here, so there has to be silver somewhere! Wheaties dated 17-18-19-28-42-44-50-53-54. Also dug about $8 in change, a wierd charm/token, souvenir penny, smashed kids ring (junk), and a few tabs... Was using my older Vaquero there. Need to go back and find some silver!

That's still a nice haul!!
I've only found 1 wheat total, so you're doing well lol.
Nice hunt!! You'll find it. It's there. If all those whea ties are there, there's bound to be silver.

doing good thats a real nice silver ring
