silver ore????

hello to all on the forum....i plan to contibute more when i learn more:thumbup:

I am still trying to understand the language of my coinmaster pro.......most of the time it is all Greek [like the saying goes]...........fishing was bad at the lake today so i got the detector out and i think i found silver ore???........this lake is in a known silver mining area......the coinmaster went nuts over all of these peices.........the same readings as a solid 925 ring [no stone]......i have done a little research and found that silver ore can come in all kinds of shapes........i have done a nitric acid test with positive results, but my acid is a few years old......

i'll try to download some pics............i expect to have these checked out.......but was just wanting to know if anyone else has found similar material........

Smelt it down in a crucible and pour off the slag. See what's left, should be silver....

Try an ohmeter test of conductivity...

the ohms zero'd out on all pieces............i may smelt one piece down, just to get something clean to test, as far a selling it...........could be better in natural form???......it still could be melted beer cans??? there are a lot of fire pits in the area?....i have no idea, i'm pretty new to all of this........
.i got the detector to keep me from getting stiff joints and out of the chair:wiggle:

thanks

The melted beer or soda cans, is what it reminded me of when I first saw it. I don't go within 10 foot of a fire pit anymore because of all those. They give a strong solid tone like a shallow quarter. Now that you have mentioned fire pits, I would say that is what they most likely are.

I agree with what dave5710 said, that sutff sounds and reads just like silver on my ML SE.

I got excited about the same stuff too until I was finding so much of it that I could fill a small paint can. Then I decided it was too good to be true so I started tossing it.....way outside my hunting spot. They sound like dimes to quarters on my mxt pro.

yep, all the experts that i have showed it to just have to pick it up and they know it's not silver,........one guy said the the 2.2 oz piece must have been a motor part............hmm i wonder what that camp fire was all about:lol:

oh well.......it was fun while it lasted

thanks a lot foe the education

Don
