Silver or XLT or Excalibur???

I do a lot of beach hunting, both wet and dry sand with my Excalibur and also a White's XLT. After an hour or so the other day, I had a small handfull of the usual coins but I was talking to a guy with a Tesoro Silver (?). He had a diamond stud earing, a pair of turquoise earrings and a few other pieces of jewelry in addition to a huge handfull of coins. He said he loves his Silver and hasn't found anything better for the dry sand.
My question: Is the Silver really that good or not? Any thoughts out there? Is it worth me adding a Silver to my collection for the dry sand? It must be a pretty sensitive machine to pick up a diamond stud earring since there wasn't that much metal in it.

I own Excalibur myself and use it heavly but also had Stingray in the past as well too and I was using Excal for my regular hunting and if there wasn't anything to be found then Ill switch to Stingray to find some tiny/smaller gold like earring which normally is not detected by bigger coil detectors ..
With Stingray I have found small gold fillings or gold caps with teeth still in it in the water .. also found lead bb shots or the back clasp of the earring ..
Their are more senvistity for smaller gold but Ill take my Excal over any detector at any beach and dig up regular size gold rings at deeper depth.

It's not just the detector..it's how much discrimination you use and how much you dig.
Yes the Tesoro Silver can pick up tiny things.
One of the best low price detectors.

HI Deane,
Sounds like you have Desc set to high. Try setting your Excal at about 3 and dig it all. You will find alot more.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting.
