Silver nugget? :detecting:

Sure hope its silver. Its oxidized like aluminum i find on the beach in St Augustine. Aluminum gets dense and heavier once its melted. I dont think its got the silver coloring. I suspect any jeweler can tell you. Nice find.... especially if its silver.

It looks like an aluminum welding glob that broke away from the rest of the weld, which is heavier the plain aluminum. I find alot of this and it closely resembles a good target every time on the read out. I hope I'm wrong and that it is a nug, what better christmas gift could one ask for?

Best wishes

Of course the RAW stuff ive seen out west and it dont look nothing like the finished product we know. Like born2hunt said .... aluminum does get heavier in those globs especial in those welding sticks. Ive found buckets of it on the beach. I took mine to the museum in St Augustine to have them look at it because i had found very large pieces.... i was hoping it was silver since there were a lot of ship wrecks there and they had samples. Nope it was balls of aluminum they used while welding ships. It had NO pitting like aluminum or oxidation. I wished i still had some to see where it hit... im thinking even the little pieces hit 00 28. Take a reading on it.... if it reads 00 27 or 3 28 its not silver. BUT.... still the best way to tell is a jeweler id say. They use the stuff all the time in a pretty raw form. Good luck and let us know what you find out.... if you get rich im coming to you house for that New Years party i know you going to have.

Could be remnants of Al cans melted in campfires. I find them anywhere there has been campfires over the years...especially beaches.

Even non-aluminum welding globs from an arc welder hit well. A dense piece of aluminum weld or melted aluminum is bound to hit like a coin.

I find those all the time at the old park I hunt, I toss'em away. I hope it's not silver. Doe's it read silver on digital?

silver solder???

I think mustard (from sulfur in the mustard) will stain silver black. I would put some mustard on it. The black stain is removable. Google silver test. I hope it is silver for your sake. 1.5 years ago I found some "nuggets" panning in a creek. I SWORE they were platinum. They were over an ounce each. I placed them in nitric acid and sadly they dissolved away: lead. I wondered how such natural looking lead nuggets could appear in a creek. Let us know what you find out.
