Silver Key

I took the 5.3 coil out for the day, determined to get a better feel for it. We definitely made some progress. I made my best find of the day on my first hunt in a play lot at an elementary school from 1947. (That's pretty old around here) The silver key is stamped .925 with what looks like a crown symbol stamped next to it. I can't make it out clearly with the magnifying glass I have.To my untrained eye, the key appears to be pretty old. Strangely enough, I found the little lock pendant in the same lot but in a different area, and they're not a set. The key is silver and the lock is junk metal.
We hunted a park later in search of some silver coins but came up a little short. Did find one 65' quarter, a 65'dime (that hurts) I was pleased to bring up several coins from as deep as 8". Also ended up with $ 3.74 in clad and a bathroom token from Indianapolis, Indiana ?!? Hope you enjoy.

That's pretty darn cool! The key is a good size. Must have been from a necklace. Good amount of clad and sounds like you're getting to know the 5.3" coil. I love mine in trashy areas. HH and thanks for posting, Nancy

Looks like you had a good hunt.
Now that my 6x10DD is gone I'm using the 5.3 more.
Won't be replacing trhe 6x10 for a few weeks yet.
Good hunt.

Chances are that key was given to some young lady to wear around her neck...As in "Here's the key to my heart, now...". You fill in the blank. Used to be some very similar ones around our HS back in the 50's.

Nice find! My luck, I'd hit it with the Lesche & bent it in half.
