Silver Jostens pendant....

REVIER

Well-known member
Found a few cool thing today.
A 42 wheat and a 53 nickel in a park that is not old but built on a site that used to be an old neighborhood.
I found 3 steel wheaties on my very first hunt here, I hope there are some older, better coins still hiding and the F70 will find them..

A really ugly ring, that is made out of strips of metal and all interwoven.
Could be silver, I will have to test it.

A really old, (I think), Freemason's pendant.

A silver pendant.
Says sterling on the back and Jostens so the 02 refers to a graduating year and it is not the sign for oxygen which was my first thought.
Nobody ever said I was smart.
Good looking but not smart.

My first piece of precious metal jewelry since moving back to Bama.
Gotta be some gold around here so hopefully that will pop up next.

That sure is an odd looking ring. Not very often you find a steel penny. You got 3 of them. Most of the time they will rust away before you can find them. Sounds like you are back to the swing of things. You take care... KEN from Ind.

Nice finds------Steel pennies-------Need to add those on my bucket list-----The ring is really something to look at, You sure its not a mouse trap?------after1

were the steel pennies rusted? I found some wheats one time that had a couple of rusted items the right size but not sure if they were steel pennies.

I found 6 steel cents in my career...I think.
2 were basically little more than totally rusted discs like many find.
I think they are war cents but I might not ever know because they were beyond redemption.
4 were covered with really thick crud, I couldn't rub them close to clean to check for a date in the field but I hoped a tumbler would get them clean enough to at least read the date.
As I mentioned 3 were found on one hunt which will probably never happen to me again.
To find 4 that weren't totally rusted away is also unusual.
Why some come out of the ground toasted and some are salvageable I have no idea...drainage probably has something to do with it.
After I took them all out of the tumbler and I read the dates I was surprised every time.
