silver got better disc than vaq!

actually i have both and in air and ground the silver reject biger irons at the same disk level!
in every situation i found the silver has really better disk!
the vaq deeper though but you dig more iron. but the vaq is more expensive and post to have the better disc:E180
i dont know why its really good!its not.
beside the silver has much nicer usefull beep!its smoother and longer signal!

Same coils on each machine? Same sensitivity?

Since Bill and Diggler sorta squared up most other possibliities and you know the Vaq is scanning more dirt, it makes sense to me that it would naturally be sounding off on iron that the Silver ain't seeing, but would be if it was getting the depth of the Vaq. Is that good logic, or am I missing something?

Here is a thread that relates directly to this one. In particular read down to Monte's notes on the the differences between the ED 120 and ED 180 discriminators and about the quest for depth.

They are two different models and since the vaquero (and Cibola) have a different circuitry design and a broader-range of rejection (on the lower end), I have found that these models, like some other Tesoro's, do NOT reject iron targets at the labeled "Iron" setting as found on other units. You should never go by the label on any detector and determine, for yourself, what a proper setting is to get the desired degree of discrimination.

Not necessarily, just "different". However, I will add that I wasn't thrilled with the Vaquero's I have owned (3) because they were all low-tone versions and I didn't like the audio rejection and response, nor the fact that, as mentioned, they need a higher-level setting to achieve similar rejection (same iron target sample).

I didn't find the Vaquero to be deeper in most of the ground I hunt in ... with the exception of comparing the two with a minimum discriminate setting. Because the vaquero does accept more at the minimum setting, there is less bias against an iron mineral ground signal and the result is a bit better depth/performance.

Regardless of what they state, it isn't quite an ED-180 range of acceptance like the Compadre, Eldorado
