Silver, Gold and . . .

Mark and I were back at it at the camp today, we spent the first couple of hours clearing another area to hunt. Today was a back breaker :stretcher: but we got it done.

My first target was a funky gold plated cuff link, I thought it was an odd thing to find there. A few minutes later I got a nice sounding nickle to pull-tab'ish bouncer, and to my astonishment out came a nice mens ring. I wasn't sure if it was real or not as I couldn't see a mark on it, but Mark kept telling me it was. When I got it home tonight and washed the dirt off, sure enough, it's marked MIA10K  No idea what the stone is, perhaps a garnet, but it looks like it's pretty old, maybe Victorian

After the ring, it was all down hill for me in the area we cleared, so I decided to freewheel it through the weeds and overgrowth. I ended up finding a nice Westmoreland Sterling silver spoon in the thick. A bit later I was under a tree digging up quite a few wheats and finally silver'd with a merc :thumber: I also found a neat 1955 Richmond dog-tax tag, a Mexican 20 centavos coin, and not far from that another ring, unfortunately this one was a gold plated junker :ranting:

The merc makes silver coin #33 towards my goal of 40 by 4/19 :detecting:

Thanks for looking and HH,

Totally Awesome
Love it all.:beers:

Well done Brian. Hard work is paying off. I'm hunting old house sites. Lots of trash. May have to adopt your "area clearing" approach.

Great finds Brian, thats a sweet ring!

We've gotten to the point that if we don't clear an area there's almost no where left to hunt, but every time we clear an area we uncover more goodies.

What kills me is a lot of the area has fallen trees, bushes and thorny berry bushes that we won't be able to remove and I know there's tons of silver coins and other goodies hidden under them that'll never get recovered
