Silver dry spell over

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
With the rain we had last week, it was enough to start hunting some old properties and I had quite a run of no silver, yet still made some good finds........ 39 wheats and 6 IH's ........ then the silver gods must have thought I had suffered long enough. I went back to a yard that Nancy and I had hunted last month and had good luck but I never would have thought we had missed three silvers there but we sure did and probably more. I got a nice trifecta this afternoon......... A Barber dime would have been nice too but just wasn't meant to be today.

Here are some pictures of the last few hunts and the prize of the bunch is a 1924 Chauffeur licence.

Wow....! That is unbelievable! That seated is like #1 on our list. Amazing.! Nice work! I have a couple places scoped out that could be hiding something like that, just need to work up the nerve to knock on the doors. Congrats!

I honestly don't want to say much except for he went there WITHOUT me!

That seated dime had a nasty greying on it and he cleaned it since it's a common coin. That's why it is so nice and shiny. Usually we only wash our silver with soap and water. NO BRUSHES. Congratulations Honey and thanks for the Chinese dinner last night. ;-)

Yes, the seated was badly stained and not a key date so I used a Mr Clean magic eraser to get most of the stain off. Normally we do NOT clean our silver but this one was really bad. For those new to the hobby, cleaning your found silver WILL devalue it if it is worth more than melt. If I was selling this dime, the value is still about the same because a bad stain will bring the value down as well.

:please: Your killing me. That's a dream day. :clapping:
