I just got my Whites M6 (which for coinshooting is similar to the MXT) a week ago and have already found the following:
- 3 silver Roosevelt dimes (1959,1960, 1962)
- 1 Mercury Dime (1940)
- 13 wheat pennies
- and more clad than I can fill two pockets with..
This hobby is quite addictive and I've had a blast. Just a few newbie questions..
1) How many silver dimes do you generally find for every silver quarter? (i'm surprised I haven't found any silver quarters yet!)
2) How do you distinguish nickels from pulltabs? I don't even dig for the nickels anymore since they are usually pulltabs!
3)Do you bother digging up the zinc pennies? They always come out so corroded, and are so common I don't bother with them!
4) In one park I was digging up the silver dimes at 2 to 3 inches, and just a few feet away I was pulling up modern clad at 4 inches - Explain that!
5) If I'm in a park where I'm finding wheat pennies, how likely is it that it's been cherry-picked for the silver coins with just the wheat pennies left?
I look forward to hearing your input and tips. Thanks!
