Silver Detector

New member
Lately I've been hunting local elementary schools instead of parks. I find them less trashy with the exception of metal pencil ends that ID like a nickel. As I'm learning my G2 I'm finding tons of nickels and clad. And real or not, I find some sort of jewelry every time I go out. But so far no silver, I know the G2 will find it, but I also know it was not designed for it. So regardless of brand what would be a good silver detector to follow up with after I clean out everything else? I know the obvious might be an E-Trac, but I'd like to stay $500 or less. I've got one Buffalo and some Jeffersons from the 40's and 50's(usually 4"-6" deep)so I know there has to be silver. Thanks, Rusty.

bug will find silver has found me several silver rings just have to dig those high numbers and unfortunately 99 percent of its junk. if you dont like that idea maybe try a Tesoro?

I would not put that like that, this VDI is highly accurate and can be very strong on finding Silver. Seems that we think that either detector will not find it and not very deep. But I will tell you this "it can, and will" just keep hunting and trying different approaches.

Ya got that right Ken!------The VDI is incredibly accurate on the G2 (and that includes the VDI #'s from higher conductors such as clad or silver dimes).-----I'll just say this (to anyone)---you will find silver with this machine at respectible depths & with accurate enough ID.-----Just get some in-field hunt time in with this machine & learn what it is "telling you".---It is an amazing piece of equipment and it WILL produce.------I have owned/used mucho detectors over the years and I am SO impressed with the G2 that we (my wife & I) have sold off all of our other detectors and now have only the Etracs and G2's as our "arsenal", they wonderfully "compliment" each other.-------Which brings to mind Ken---I see you have quite a "gang" of 'tectors---how soon do you think it will be before you feel comfortable in "thinning the herd".----Kiddin ya----------------Del

Hey Del --

You have arrived at about the same place I have...I am down to an SE Pro and a Gold Bug Pro -- I can't see needing anything else. These two really do complement each other very nicely!

Steve
Hi Steve-----Yeah, those Explorers are nice machines.----I've owned/used them all from the old XS, EX II, SE (with both slimline & Pro coil) & now the Etrac.-----Until the advent of the Etrac, the EX II was my favorite of the group.------The SE Pro is an EXCELLENT machine also though.------I would say that your SE Pro and Gold Bug Pro combo would be a VERY TOUGH ACT for ANY two detectors to follow!-----I know I'm sticking with my Etrac & G2 (at least till something even better comes to market)---and that may take some "doing". :)-----It is SUCH a lethal/versatile combination. (IMHO)------There is two or three things I would like to see changed in the four detectors you & I have----but hey---they're plain "dynamite" just like they are!-----------Del
