SILVER! :detecting:

This has been an Amazing last 2 days. I got permission to hunt an old Girls and Boys camp by the owner. The Camp dates back to the early 40's and has 12 cabins set up in a semi circle . The camp has been closed for about 8 years. No one has ever hunted this "Private" property before. I hunted Friday and Saturday. I was hitting Silver like it was clad. Every time I turned around there was another coin. There are many Wheaties but I left those for now so as to concentrate on silver and clad quarters. What a great time. This is what it's all about.

Lordy! If I had found a place like that, I would think I'd died and gone to Heaven. Nice finds!

That is great!! Thanks for sharing.

Couple o questions..

Are you left handed?

Does the SR probe add any noticible weight on imbalance?

I like to tweak the length of the shaft when the grade of the ground changes, does having the cable wrapped make it where you cannot do it?

What do you have wrapped around the battery compartment and handle?

Was it raining or do you always use the cover? I use Palm anti-glare protectors for all my screens, I have a hard time seeing through the cover window.

What coil is that and what other larger coils do you use and like. I always use the 11" PRO coil, IMO it performs as well as any small coil unless I need to get into a tight spot. I'm interested in how an even larger coil works in a trashy area. As well as the 11"?

Thanks, and what a nice place to hunt. I hope you get to hunt it for a couple of years. I bet it will keep producing for a long time.

Julien

Congrats, John.

You've found a place that most of us only dream about.

I noticed you have the 15 inch WOT on your E-Trac.
Do you use the coiltek on the beach much, if so what are your deepest jewelry/coin finds on the beach?

I know they produce 12 to 18 plus finds and was just curious about your experience.

By the way nice finds you have and good luck on your continued efforts on that site.

You forgot a couple of questions.
What color are your eyes and hair?
What's your sign?

Wow!!!!

That's an impressive pile of silver.

I am actually Right handed but hold the detector in my left hand. I like to keep my right hand free for digging. Works for me.

Never had any problems with weight using the SR. Don't really notice it.

The Battery Compartment/Handle are wire ties that holds the SR Probe mounting bracket.

No rain. I always keep the rain cover on. It keeps dust and dirt out, and protects it from that occasional bump.. After the initial setup, I hunt mostly by sound anyway, and it keeps me from having to go back to the car if it does rain a little.

The coil is the 15'' WOT. The best coil I own hands down.

Man-o-man!!! That is a dream hunt for sure. You'll remember that hunt for the rest of your life. Major, major pat on the back!

Nice set up on the E-trac. I noticed in the photo that your foam handle is cut. I had the same problem and solved it by wrapping the foam with a tennis racket rubber grip.

You can get them from Wal Mart for about 4 bucks. Makes for a very comfortable handle and allows for quick clean up too. I hated cleaning the E-trac because the foam handle would soak up mud and eventually work loose and slide around. This stops the foam grip from doing that.

Start at the top near the control head with the tapered end and work your way down to the battery area. Get the solid black, not the perforated kind as the small holes in that type attract dirt and makes for a tougher cleaning.

Really nice finds. I dream of places like that.

Here is a photo of the wrap.

You lucky dog! :twodetecting: I guess they're right when they say "LOCATION, LOCCATION, LOCATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you had a blast digging all those targets. OUTSTANDING FINDS!!!

Tell me more about the 15" WOT. Is it better than the 11" coil, IYO, in all conditions? Are there sites wheree you would prefer the 11" coil, like lots of iron, or bad ground?

I am guessing that camp site was trashy so I am impressed.

Thanks,

J

Congrats. Best part is you could hunt that for 6 months and not find it all.

The 15'' WOT really brings in coins. Crisp tones, and the pinpointing is fantastic. Much better than the stock coil, and the SEF, although the SEF is a little quieter. As far as when would I prefer the 11'' coil? Trashy areas, or when I need to get into tighter areas ( tree roots bushes, etc). At this camp site there wasn't much trash, but a lot of open ares for the kids to play. Many coins I found were near the concession stand. "Makes sense". Coins were also found by the pool area, as were the rings.
