I got back to my wooded spot again that I've been hitting the last couple weeks. No Colonial coins today but the Explorer found a bunch of silver.
My first coin find was a '43P War nickel that the Explorer sniffed out of some other trash. Targets are getting more scarce and I'm getting to polking into tougher areas (in and around fallen branches etc).
My next find was actually a surface find that made the machine scream. It was a large, sterling handmirror frame missing the handle (yea, I really looked for that handle!), In the first photo of the mirror you can see the hallmark and "sterling" just above where the handle would have fastened on. I'm going to have to researh the hallmark to identify and date it.
The last find was on my way out of the area to go home - I was poking and swinging as I walked. Between the branched of a fallen limb I got a classic "high pitch, cursor buried in the upper right" signal. What started out as a silver Washington turned into a 10 coin spill! Two washingtons ("46 + "64), a Rosie ("64), two wheats, three memorials, and two 1963 French coins (1 franc + 5 franc).
Thanks for sharing. Bruce
