Hello to all! I broke my 2011 silver curse, searched an old theater today found 15 barber dimes 1898 to 1916, 10 mercury dimes 1917 to 1923 all within a four foot square area, makes you feel like a kid again when you see that silver in the hole! it's all uphill from here..

Mother lode spot:thumbup:
Nice finds !

Makes you a believer in seeking out the un-thought of places, don't it?
Not merely untouched, mind you, but the sort of places no one else even knows to think about.

That was one helluva a haul, if we're to be honest - one not likely to be repeated again. That story needs some meat put on it, some photos added and a bit of publishing.

Congratulations on the kind of find many will never see. I'm sure you are stoked!

PS Why do you think so many vintage coins were in such a small area?

You bet I'm stoked! going back tomorrow , ended the day with a 4 1/2" coil and a sore back, got more signals, couple more dimes! will add photos with more coins( I hope! )
Garrett GTA 1000, Garrett 1000 Power Master, Pro Pin-pointer and a lot of luck!

Wow! I would keep going back until I did not get a peep of a signal. That is a great bunch of silver. Amazing to find that much in one day. Enjoy that spot and work it out.

Jerry

25+ silver dimes in one hunt? Amazing...truly.

I would agree to the luck part, for sure.
Unless you know what a spot has potential for, then just swinging the coil at random depends utterly on luck.
Good equipment helps unlock the potential, but it has to be there in the first place.
Regardless, I'll take luck when I can get it! :clapping:

Happy detecting!!

Going back out this afternoon! yesterday I also found 8 clad quarters, an old crusty pocket knife, the end of a kids shovel. My best quess to the dimes being in one aera is, what ever was going on at the theater cost only a dime? maybe a roll was dropped? that's the cool thing about this hobby! I will post my finds tonight, hope to add more to the pile today!

W-O-W.........! WTG. Hope you can post some photos soon and thanks for sharing such good news. There are several drive-in theaters
within 50 miles of where I live, but they won't let anybody detect these locations. HH.

i have found a lot of old coins at drive inns the past year. or rather I should say were drive inns. great finds

Hi guys, went out today, added to the pile! here is the two day coin total..15 Barber dimes(4 not in photo, gave them to the land owner)..17 mercury dimes..1910 Barber half, 1911 Barber quarter
(I'm still in shock!) 13 clad quarters, 3 clad dimes, 3 clad nickles and 24 pennies (4 wheaties) To top it all off, I invited my 28 year old son with his ACE 350, He showed up late."of course"
He went over the area I had searched 3 times, sure enough, he came up with 2 Barbers and 1 mercury.. I never could keep a secret! My luck has probably run out by now!
Maybe I should buy a power ball ticket just in case! It sure don't get any better than this..Good luck to all, thanks for all the head's up..Mike

Great Job. Apperently no one else hunted this place before.

thinking about the goodies buried on this site, with all of the silver I found, my wife is almost convinced that I need a new detector. HA!
