Silver coins.....HELP

I need help with my silver coins I've found.....I was looking at them and they are getting a dark black looking color on them....I have (had) them in those little cardboard holders with the plastic coat in an album....What should I put them in and how can I get that black stuff off

Silver does tarnish with oxidation. If the coins are collectable I'd be careful on cleaning them.
Some collectors like them that way. Cleaning them could devalue them quite a bit when you sell them.

Please don't clean the silver coins. The natural patina is a beautiful color and some collectors value it. It's OK to have the coloring on them. Listen to Joel, he knows what he's talking about. Hope that helps! HH, Nancy

Thanks Joel and Nancy.....I went to my local coin shop in a frenzy and they told me not to clean them either and the little cardboard holders were ok. I thought they were getting ruined but I guess it's ok....I just like that nice clear silver look.

You're very welcome. That nice shiny silver is pretty, but when they have that natural patina......WOW!!! It's like looking in a rainbow. Glad you didn't clean them and that you asked a professional! HH, Nancy
