Found these at a new site today. Big yard of old house produced these plus a handfull of clad coins and a clad kennedy half. Also found a token and the usual trash. It will take a few more trips to fully cover the yard and I expect to find some more keepers there...............Roger
I love to hunt old yards, looks like you had a blast. I bet you about $#!+ your pants when the Walker came to light! I love those big silvers, although they don't show up on my radar very often.
I had a blast hunting that yard yesterday...started out digging a clad half dollar right off the bat and had a feeling the yard held some decent finds. It had been awhile since I'd found a walker and actually I thought I had a barber half before pulling it out of the ground, but was very happy finding the walker. I kinda felt bad cause my buddy got the site to hunt and didn't find a single silver coin.
He did find a really cool little toy pistol about an inch long that had a 5 shot pepperbox barrel on it. His coin total was 28 coins... all clad with a few wheaties. I found two of the silver dimes in areas he had just hunted but he was skipping around the yard looking for hot spots. It pays being slow and methodical in your search, overlapping with each sweep of the coil. We are having some real nice weather this week in west central Illinois and I'm hoping to get back to the yard one more time befor the weather gets nasty. Happy Hunting ...............Roger
got to go back to the site today for a couple hours and found 2 more silver rosie dimes, a 64 and a 52. got a few wheaties and some clad dimes and quarters also. So far found 6 silver dimes, a silver half dollar and a silver ring in a small area of the yard. The ground is getting dry and hard to dig so might be done there until spring, but sure was fun finding the silver so far. sorry , no pics of todays finds yet. HH
I'd love to close the season (getting nearer with each passing day, though we've got mid 60's this week) with a large silver.
