The ground here is now diggable, and last weekend I had a free afternoon & joined a friend at the early "pounded" park that I dug that Victorian gold ring & a couple V-nickles last time. Most of the silver is long gone at this "hunted out" park. But, last time before leaving I found an area where a structure once stood. Of course it was all iron in there, much of it large. But I was able to isolate a couple interesting relics. This time I returned & started right in the iron & my first signal was the brass change purse "bars". I thought that was pretty cool......took me a min. to think....hey, Check the hole for coins! I scanned over the dirt & sure enough got a real sweet high tone. Right in the dug dirt was this purdy 1904 Barber dime. I was hoping for a bunch of coins & made the hole very wide, but I imagine they spent all their money & this was all that was left......
First silver coin of the year in my first hunt of 2008. Not bad, especially for a spot that silver is hard to come by.....
I also captured this on my video camera & it will be on my DVD probably. With this site the key is working the iron, as past detectorists avoided this part of the park. So, I will be back there again to work it some more.......maybe with some small coils.

Bill
