Silver Bloom !

The MXT and I got back on the silver on Tuesday with these two beautiful flower pendants. Here's the kicker, both of these were found on the same day, on separate hunts 30 miles apart ! If anyone can explain that I'm all ears. BTW the silver rose on the right is pretty hefty and was giving a VDI of around 26. Do you suppose it may be white gold ? I can't find any markings on it. Thanks.

Interesting, very interesting Scott. Someone is giving you flowers. The silver colored rose that rang up at 26 could be a pot metal. Don't want to burst your bubble, but that would be a good reason the VDI was that low. Also if looks to be a fairly new piece and the stated to stamp the content of the gold back around 1920. Have you looked at it with a jeweler's loupe? It's very pretty though and thanks for sharing. HH, Nancy

I thought you'd see it that way Nancy. I was thinking the same thing, about the flowers that is. No bubble to burst here, that's why I posted my question, to get some experienced opinions, and yours definitely qualifies. It seems like I've been getting so much silver that I almost felt guilty about finding 2 more pieces. I believe you're exactly right about the rose pendant being junk metal. I have a little success and start getting cocky assuming that everything silver is SILVER (.925) Needed the reality check but I tell you I'm having a blast. BTW I found another wheat today, a 1955 D. Thanks for the reply.

What mode were you hunting in srf2112? ever since I found a watch I have been digging up nothing but newer clad. I tried relic a few times, but it is a bit confusing to me. I stay with coin and jewelry mode. Got the 6x10 coil today and want to get the most out of it. Thanks.

Hey Wench, I was hunting in the coin/jewelry mode. I have not gotten used to the relic mode yet either. I turn the sens. as high as I can while still running stable and I always keep my disc. at 2-1/2 or lower, usually more like 2. Yeah I dig a lot of tabs but I also get a lot of nickels and a good amount of gold. I have also been using the 6x10 almost exclusively. I think you'll love this coil. It works great for me up close to metal structures in sniffing out targets that were completely out of reach with the stock 950 coil. Keep practicing your sweep angles and speeds in relation to the structure and you'll learn to flesh out the treasures that others couldn't. I have found I can also separate targets pretty well with it by coming at a suspicious and/or jumpy signal from multiple directions. Hope that helps and keep us posted.

Thanks desert. Yea taking the pics to post after the hunt is the hardest part with my lame camera. I read your post with the question about using the 6x10 in your area. I don't have any experience, personally, using it in those conditions yet but if it comes anywhere close to how it's working for me, you'll be very happy with it. The ground here varies but it gets up to the mid 70's in spots and as far as I can tell it's working great. I'm pretty new so I don't have much to compare it to but I'm sure some of the vets will be able to answer your question. Good luck.

Thanks srf2112. I did find that the 6x10 gets deeper depth. Pretty happy with it. Went out with a byddy on Thursday and found an amazing 78 cents and about 40 something pulltabs! I could probably get more for the tabs if I sold them!

Thanks for your reply and I will try your advice. oh the watch, I still haven't done anything with it. Will let you know when I take it in.
