Howdy--

We have been having some roller-coaster weather here lately. One day it's 15 degrees and the next day it's in the 60's. Fortunately the last 3 Saturdays have been of the 60's variety. My buddies and I have been re-hunting an old camp. I've been hunting this site since the 1980's when I swung the Eagle2, SL89, XLT, DFX and now the V3i. My strategy for the last 3 hunts was to kick the dead grass and weeds away from the sidewalks and foundations and swing my V3i with the 4X6 coil as close to them as possible. During the summer the overgrowth is thick at the edge of the sidewalks and near the foundations making it very difficult if not impossible to hunt those areas effectively. Now the combination of dead dry grass, a few kicks and unhunted ground in prime areas are exposed!

Aside from the large unfired shell ( it's 7.25" long), the silver and that squirrel , I also dug a few wheat-cents, nickles and older memorials. Best of luck and ...

Great find!! I am just glad that I got to see you pull it out of the ground. You will have to put a blindfold on the squirrel so it can be your Blind Squirrel keepsake. Good to be able to hunt with you.

I got a positive ID from taz42o and Aarong81 on the Whatzit Forum. The round is a 20X110 Dummy Round. It gave an 80's reading and pinpointed large and green. I thought that it would be a garden hose nozzle. You never know what you are going to dig up! Best of luck and ...
