Silver and toasted IH penny

Johnny Cache

New member
Over the past few days I have hunted a couple of spots that I have hit in the past. I was able to find these 2 small silver rings, and a nice Rosie. I found a bit of clad, and 7 Wheaties. I was happy to dig up the IH penny, but it's so corroded that I can't really see the date. Does anybody know a good way to clean it up a bit? I don't normally clean my old coins, but this one is pretty bad!
I was very disappointed with my hunt at a very large old spot the other day...I dreamed of digging up Barbers and Indians galore, but it was virtually empty! I was told that 2 guys detected it a couple years ago. It's in a small town of 150 people, and the 2 guys were out-of-towners which sucks for me--the local guy. oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to research even more.

Happy hunting everybody!

Soak in olive oil for several days, it should loosen crud without removing patina
