here's some coins from the old picnic grove i have been hunting since 1986. still producing coins although not as many as it used to. my hunting buddy kept a log of some our hunts there and told me of one hunt where we found 15 silvers beteween the two of us that day. silver is much harder to find these days at the grove , but it is still there. these coins were found in the last 2 trips there. the 1917 and 1925 mercs were found last trip and the 1918 merc and the 1917 standing liberty quarter and the 1903 indian head penny was found today. the quarter has a very faint date but you can read it. also here is a picture of part of the grove...............roger
I like the standing liberty quarter, nice date and readable.......... the mercury head dimes ain't bad either, hope you get some more on your on your return trip there.
campnagle, the standing liberty quarter is a type 2 coin. it is a 1917 s mint mark. i was happy to find it along with the other coins. i'm headed back to the grove this weekend and hope to find a few more coins...........roger
