Silver and gold!

Out for a quick evening hunt and had a great time. Nice gold costume ring no marks, 1942 mercury, and a copper token that commemorates our 18th President Grant. Also a couple wheat's not pictured. Thanks for looking. HH!

I wish all my quick hunts were as good as yours was.

We usually don't get to go out any longer than 1 maybe 2 hours at a time. The old parks still produce pretty good for us and a empty field we go to that had house's on it that now the entire neighbor hood uses like a park. Really having good luck there lately. Going there right now to see what else we can find.

Holy cow! Well we are back and my son and I are floored. Went back to same area we found the merc yesterday and OMG! Not sure what the copper looking coin is but it has Chinese writing on one side and a dragon on the other. So much fun when you find a good spot. Thanks again for looking. HH!

Wow! Did some research on the Chinese coin. It is not copper it is silver sometime between 1900 and 1905 most Likely but I can't really Pinpoint yet. It's a Kiangnan silver dollar. What! Keep you posted if I find out more. I'll bring it to the meet also.

Bummer. After doing little more research I think it may be a fake or tourist token. It is to light in weight and I don't think silver would tarnish that bad. Also the markings are just a little off from most I see on Internet. Dang I was so excited to. See you at the meet. HH!

Wow, congrats on a super hunt. Keep looking for an ID on the Chinese coin. Some of those have a good collectors value.

Thanks flinthunter! I never thought to research if it was copper coin or not cause the markings were so close to the silver coin of that time so I just thought it was a souvenir coin or something. But you are right it is a Hu Poo Chinese copper cash coin from around 1900 to 1905. It is pretty worn and all I can make out is 0 so it is either 10 or 20 cash coin. It's value in this condition I think at best is $1. Thanks for your research flinthunter! That was awesome! HH!

Congratulations you two :clapping:

MY GOODNESS.............Now that's an eye opener! :surprised: You two did some great detecting. I love the old Chinese coin with the hole in it for someone made the hole in it to wear it around their neck. That Merc dime looks as thought it's never been in circulation since it's so pretty and shinny and that SILVER HALF.............WOW! Those are so pretty coming out of the ground. Did Liam have to through some water on you or did you with him? Did anyone pass out? ;-) Very nice finds and you both should be quite proud. HH, Nancy

Thanks. The Walking half came out mostly free of dirt and we rinsed the rest off at home.

She sure is a beauty! HH, Nancy

Sorry, thought you were asking if we had water to rinse it off, not to "throw" on each other because of our excitement. Lol. We just kind of looked at each other in disbelief, huge smiles and excited laughter then quickly got the coils back on the ground to see what else we could find. The entire rest of hunt was Liam saying "am I dreaming" and me replying "I know, right, that is crazy". We found the 2 Rosies after that and as awesome as they are we still had our minds on the half.

LOL, I'm forever typing the wrong type of "throw", I honestly do know the difference but my fingers don't. That is a down right awesome find. I think those halves are so beautiful. HH, Nancy
