Silver and Gold Weekend:

Boy did we have a great time hunting this weekend. We set camp up Friday and came back home today. My MXT with it's stock coil was ready to go. I didn't have to change coils except for one time. We got permission by the Chief of Police to hunt the very old town nearby our campground. Larry is detecting by the old cabin built in 1832. What a blast. We also got to go back to the old haunted school house and hunt. We stopped at a few small towns and detected a bit at the local city parks. I found the 1893 Indian cent, 1911 V-Nickel, 1939 Mercury dime, gold plated junk ring, Red Cross 3 Gallon Donor pin, brooch, Falsa Peso (play money) and the 2 wheat cents at the playground area of the old school. Glad I didn't get spooked. The 1943 quarter came from the Fair Grounds and the 10Kt Opal ring was found at a park. What a wonderful, enjoyable, relaxing weekend. We got permission to hunt different places and we were also turned down. But overall, we had the GO-A-HEAD to hunt many places. Larry found an 1898 Indian cent and 13 wheat cents. We both had a big handful of clad coins with a few OLD interesting  finds. We hunted in cinders and what a hair pulling experience. I had to stop hunting with the temp of 91 and very high humidity earlier today. :surrender:

Camping, detecting, sitting by the fire in the evening..............YES! What a great weekend. Thanks for looking and HH to all, Nancy

Very nice finds, great job

Nice finds, sounds like a very enjoyable weekend.

Very nice condition on the older coins! Conrats! What few I've found are in sad shape, but happy to find nonetheless.

They do seem to pop up, but it's out there for anyone that does the research and asking permission. You'll be out there with your MXT finding more silver coins. It might be few and far between, but they're out there. It took me all summer long to get a silver quarter. Heck, last year Larry didn't get ONE silver quarter and this year he's gotten 14 already! You just never know. There's so many wonderful treasures out there for everyone. Sometimes you have to wish upon a star and saying a little prayer and then a thank you doesn't hurt at all either. Thank you for your kind words Cliff and thank you everyone! HH to all, Nancy

must not be as dry there as it is here in Indiana. Our fields are hard as a rock and you can't dig in lawns without destroying the grass. Glad you got out and made those good finds. I hardly ever use the stock coil on my MXT.

The soil was a bit damp and perfect for digging in places. But here at home it's been terribly dry and we couldn't hunt. Today is a different story....We've got rain!!!! And it's still raining. We needed this so bad and I hope it does it all day so we can enjoy some local detecting on the weekend. Thanks to all and HH, Nancy

Bone dry here in Jersey too Nancy. My digging trowels end is rippled from bending it back into shape so many times. We're to finally get some rain from the hurricane leftovers coming up from the south, and of course thats coming Saturday. You wait all week in summer drought to dig and it rains on the weekend.
