Silver and Gold Vintage Locket...

REVIER

Well-known member
A weird jumpy signal with my Nox in my rough, red clay mineralized dirt...low 20s jumping to high 20s with a few repeating 30-31's in there that peaked my interest.
About 5-6" down...considered deep for around here and in the sweet spot for some nice, older treasure.

It was so bright out when I dig it and the back wiped clean with one swipe so with the glare I thought it was silver.
Then I looked at it out of the sun and it looked like brass but that was fine, it seemed so intricate and well made I was thrilled to now own this little piece of vintage art.
Brass should have tarnished so I was egged on by others on a forum to look further.
I tested the two leaves and the small flower and they easily passed the 10k acid test.
The plating on the case also tested good for 10k but I could see some other white metal underneath.

Then I took a picture of the fairly clean inside and saw some tiny letters I missed...

1/20 10K ON STERLING

I wondered why those numbers seemed so high, that explained it.
So way cool, a quality vintage silver photo locket plated in gold.

Here in the south the heat is gone and we finally got some needed rain to soften the dirt so what I call my second season now begins.
A great start, I would say.

Congrat's Revier on a beautiful locket. It makes one wonder whose photo it once held. Great save. You were speaking of red clay.....is that down Georgia way?

Nice find I found a ring that was 1/20 gold this year.
