Silver and copper ore

walnut

New member
Hello, I found today an old site that had been reported in some old state record, as having high silver and copper values. It is an outcropping along a dirt road. The site assayed at over 600 + PPM for silver, and the geologist note said "rich in silver".

So my young son and I found some small rocks with a Tesoro Compadre that felt heavy in the hand, and really set the detector off in about foil disc level. Most of the malachite and azurite looking rock did not sound off, but a few of them felt heavier for their size and really set the detector off. I am wondering if some of the heavier, hot rocks were good silver ore mixed in with mostly copper ore? Because most of the really green-coppery looking rocks did not register with the detector in all metal, but some of the dull grey but with tints of blue or green really set the detector off about like a nickel. When break open a piece and check with ohmmeter, the rock is more conductive than a tarnished penny.

By the way, new to the hobby but enjoying it so far.
The days finds: Any opinions as to what this ore is? I am starting to believe that it is silver.
