Silver 1791, seal matrix and a few other nice finds...

Was planning on having a friend over to detect today (Iroc88Army) but the weather being the way it is, we decided to try again in a few weeks. It did go down to -6C/21F last night but the snow covering on the fields acted as insulation and they did not freeze. The day was sunny but only got up to 1C/34F. I detected for about 1.5 hours and made a few nice finds. Promised my daughter we would go sled riding this afternoon then took the dogs for a nice long walk. Here

I lived in Mannheim for 3 years and often used to trek up into the forest, that was years ago before I was interested in detecting, looks like I missed out on some great finds, love that silver coin!

The coin looks pretty good considering it was dropped, lost around 217yrs ago. I love the 007 Badge very cool indeed.
Cheers!

I hate you. Not really, just jealous that you have areas to hunt that have great old finds. Excellent finds. I live in Arizona, not too many old areas without driving for a while. I do envy those of you in the east and Midwest that have such good, old finds available. I know you have to work pretty darn hard to make those great finds.
I went out today with my new 10.5 7.5 kHz DD and made a bunch of finds of wonderful, corroded clad coins. I still had a great time and added to my bottle cap collection.
The 10.5 DD is sure a great coil. Pinpointing is easy and like Minelab's other coils for the 70, you know when you have a good target (except for bottle caps, they are close enough to quarters that I always dig them, sometimes I get lucky and it is a quarter). Keep posting those great finds. Even if I don't have anything that old near me, I still like seeing what others are finding. You are pulling great historical items out of the ground that would be gone forever if you had not made the effort that you did. Well done my friend.

Good hunting, John K
