I'm thinking of going silent and single target tone!

good tip,i might try one tone also,to mix things up a bit, thats when you will find gold, because i dont dig foil signals, just to many, and the parks i hunt,i chose which targets to dig, because i cant be seen on my knees every other minute, you know what i mean!

.. you don't want folks to think you are so desperate for a 'win' with the next find that you are 'Tebowing' to pray for guidance in swinging that coil, or giving thanks for making a nice find.

I like to just be mentally alert to Dig/No-Dig decisions based upon the particular site. If there is usually a lower likelihood of gold jewelry being there, but an obvious abundance of low-end junk, I might decide to recover fewer 'iffy' targets that sound more foil-like for example.

But if I am fairly serious about a site I only reject common iron nails and recover most targets, and very serious means I either hunt inn a true Threshold-based All Metal mode, or I opt for the silent-search all metal accept (zero rejection) Discriminate mode.

As for Tone ID, on the White's M6 and MXT Pro I would use it only occasionally, just as on the Teknetics Omega I might use it occasionally. The only time I use Tone ID a little more is with the XLT, but even then that is only for 'casual cruising' and mainly when coin hunting. If it gets trashy, I turn Tone ID 'Off' so I get a cleaner and better audio response from more targets.

Keep in mind that running in silent mode the target signal needs to be of a certain strength before the target will create a audio/ID signal. So you might run the risk of missing deep targets..whereas the threshold mode may have alerted you to the deep target.
