significance of where the bars are left to right

Ok i am still in the learning process of digital and VDI stuff. the 16 bars on the machine, MXT. i understand 1/4 bar, 1/2 bar, full bar Fine. but where they show up on the screen, thats my question. is it that significant?

it relates to the target's VDI, on the old MXT we have a sticker with a scale to compare the signal. I like the sticker :)

Iron is on the left and silver & dollar coins on the right. Nickels are close to the center, examples below...

well, i just re read my manual--duh on me. its been a single tone beep and dig career for me. this is a lot of info to absorb. not ready for that V machine yet LOL! i was in my little backyard full of buried iron at home- previous owners were backyard mechanics-- nightmare. and i got the signal +77 and it was steady and the bars were far right- 1/4 and 1/2 bars and naming ten cent and quarter- pinpoint was at 8-9 down. it was a 1974 clad dime. so i am starting to understand it. another one at 7 and a nickel at 6-7 and remember the dime was far right and nickel centered come to think of it. pleased me anyhow. . then mosquitos and darkeness fell so in. i was at park on lunchbreak that is screwcap city thanks to winos and thugs and college kids. . i mean awfull. my guru mopped up years ago with his crew- but i pulled two tokens and a chinese 1795 coin out last year. wierd. i think i was going too fast today and not absorbing the signals. a couple shallow coins and had to get back to work. was also checked out by the friends of the park committee re-doing the place. showed my trash removal-- did not get tossed. he was shocked at the broken glass in park and the trash. screwcaps reading constant about +45 and some read +60 zinc cent due to brand. i am noticing this-- Hurricane reads different than Corona and Budlights. lol! i got to do a chart on this- especially in the areas i hunt. lol! the trash was so bad in the part i found the tokens i have been removing it in layers to get to that particular old dirt- original part.

thanks guys bear with this ole dog -- i learned something today even if i did chase my tail awhile. and i do ramble some ... a lot!

after understanding the mxt's manual and reading MXT edge, you will understand the mxt's language more and more, like with any detector, it takes a bit of time

after the book now- book junkie buddy locating one. i will make me a cheatsheet to tote on some signals that are so common here. just to give hint but will dig a lot of trash anyhow to see for myself--Like Monte always say-- your own eyes are the best discriminators. however the trash here is so bad a sifter would be best! too many kneebends and sore back would be results but i know goodies lay beneath.

i must say i am loving the digital machine. what have i been missing...

I have my MXT edge all scratched with pencil notes, it was the best way for me to remember the most important. Digital and analogue are both good, just different things

forgive me if i posted this before but the mxt can only give you a guess at what its seeing underground ,a flattened out beer can always comes up as a quarter on mine ect. i have learned tons from people on here and have learned to figure its helping but its not always correct .i also have the manual with a lot highlighted i take with although the settings i use came from this board

IS the M6 display wrt the placement of the bars similar?

Eric

In agreement with Nevdadamxt - doesn't matter what machine or brand is mentioned, the target ID is just a machine's estimation of what the target is LIKELY to be. While I haven't used everyone available I've used enough to be able to tell you that it isn't in your best interest to put too much faith in the machine's guess. If in doubt, dig it out.

The placement of the confidence blocks on the M6 is exactly the same as on the MXT.
