Signal about 6 inches deep...

How many of you get a nice silver signal about 6 inches deep but can never find what it is you originally detected?
Lately I have had to give up digging quite a few things because I could never find what I was originally detecting.
I can't wait to get my X-1 probe.
I get a great signal but after digging down about 8 inches I lose the signal.
Any ideas till my probe comes?

Hello Tony,
Many times, deep rusty nails will not pinpoint to the center and some coins on edge will do the same as well.. Sometimes the target will disappear when you have disturbed the ground, re-check the target with pinpoint mode and go from there, The Sunray X-1 probe will be your greatest tool out in the field and guides you to the target saving time on searching.
Also, It's rare but does happen, A larger target may read only six inches in depth but really is down deeper.

If your getting a solid repeatable signal from more than 1 angle, say 90 degrees, then somethings down there.. if the target disappears then until you get the probe keep digging till it comes out.. you may have to enlarge the hole from below the surface to get to the sides if its a deep coin on edge

Yes, have run into the old rusty square nail stuff around here.
Thanks for the deep tip.

Tony,
One of the best things to do is make sure it is a repeatable signal from more than one angle. I will get the signal and wiggle the coil back to me so I know the target is on the tip of the coil, then visualize where it is and come at the target from a 90 degree angle and see if you still get a response and that it is in the same area. I may go all aound the target and if there is at least 2 angles I get a good signal and didnt move than I dig untill I find it as there is a target there. Many times there is a target you only get from one angle and those are nails and falses off of other junk.
