Signagraph question

I have had my Spectra for a while, but have only recently been able to start playing with it. I dug a quarter with it, and could not find any other targets, so started experimenting with the quarter I found. I had watched the DVD from whites, and pushed the trigger forward looking for the hump like was suggested. I noticed when the coil was close to the coin the green line was the highest peak, but when I raised the coil a few inches, the red line became the higher peak. Also the line depicting the target size got quite a bit larger also. Any ideas why this is?

Your sweep has a lot to do with the sizing function and at the red showing stronger can be due to anything from partial read on the signal due to not centered a bit, touch of EMI influence or just plain old deeper can have less accurate info. After a while with your new box, you'll "compute" all those factors in or/and get more consistant with a more established style. Gets easier. Plus...that signagraph is only one piece of info. Don't rely on any one thing exclusively as so many things can effect it's output.

I've done lots of air testing with the V and I can say it's not very reliable (not a very good indication of how the V works in a real hunt situation).

I think its just like using sound only as you get closer the sound is louder---When you get closer to your Quarter with the switch forward your target get narrower because the signal is strong; When you back off the signal gets weaker so the Hump Spreads Out Farther !

I kind of figured as much. It was a strong tone the whole time, the analyzer screen was really the only thing changing. Like any other piece of new technology, it will just take time to really learn it. I can say one thing though, it sure is a lot more user friendly as far as making mods than my DFX.
