Hi Bobbie....was this last week?.....I was only there from nov 26th to Dec.3rd....was it last week?[size]

No, it was the week before. Anyhow, I am waiting to sell my house up here in CT so that I can move into our new one just outside of Sarasota. Siesta Key is my paradise, white sand, blue waters and palm trees...........cannot wait to be there permanently!

I may have to move..... to many people moving to Fl lol. We are going to have to sell loto tickets for beach hunting days, especially at Siesta Key. I must have missed you out there SD. I was running around the beach somewhere out there.

Siesta beach is nice but the Siesta beach parking lot cruise is a mind numbing exercise in futility. I have spent hours just getting a parking space when the beach is full, which is most days. The traffic on the roads leading to the parking lot at the beach is always packed.

I try to get there before sunrise as parking has been nuts. Hopefully they have started the parking lot expansion that I was told was going to happen soon.

Siesta is a good beach but there are better beaches for hunting. Siesta gets a lot of hunting and targets are few and far between. Too many detectors hit that beach every single day. You almost have to be there when something is lost in order to find it. I got there one morning at 5 am and there was 7 detectors running the beach already. I've seen the same thing at South Beach. At South Beach, one day early, there were more detectorists on the beach than beach goers. I've never seen so many metal detectors in one place at one time!

I prefer some of the lesser known beaches as they have not as many detectors scanning those beaches. All along the gulf coast there are areas that are virgin non detected beaches that have targets just waiting to be found.

Thanks for the video.

[size=large]Ya know? It's kinda funny when you think about it.....The day I got into the water (Fri) was the day that it got calm, there were 7 of us in there and although no gold was found we all managed to find silver jewelry and some junk jewelry as well.....I agree that that beach is heavily hunted but at the same time I maintain that the beach holds an incredible amount of jewelry that we just can't seem to reach and when those south winds blow they absolutely open up holes and expose some here and there.....I have been hunting this beach strictly on a verrrrry part time basis (about 2 weeks a year on average sometimes more) since the mid 80's and I manage to find gold and silver jewelry almost every year there....I'm sure that there are beaches that don't get hit as hard and seem to produce more gold.....but this beach is still one of the best that the west coast has to offer and I'm a true believer in just getting into the mix and getting your share of the gold....God knows it's there for those with patience, perseverence, and persistence ! I agree B! I went back out today to where we hunted and covered almost the exact areas, and popped this nice 14k with 23 diamonds....weird

I totally agree. I've spent hundred of hours in the water and on the beach there on Siesta Key during the winter and it always seems that I find way more when the winds blow and storms happen.

The easy stuff is found rather quickly but the stuff out of reach are just waiting.

I may end up getting a Minelab GPX 4500 or 5000 as it is probably one of the deepest detectors around. But then again, Digging three feet down for a pull tab is rather annoying. But the payoff could be huge.
