Hey Steve

I would just play around with it as is, and go find a deep naturally burried target. Then play around with the signal some and see what kind of height above the target you can get.

Or you can do a search on Monte's power balance method and play around with that. Either way you will have to play around with the balance thing. You just may be ok with your present G/B.

Kinda makes you appreciate a manual G/B............I dunno:shrug:

and it's plenty deep enough for me. I usually leave after I dig a foot and the signal is still there. In the past it's almost always been a can or junk. I'd rather get a lot of stuff at 6" to 8" that the time it takes to dig the really deep stuff. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just me.

I set mine on my Silver umax and got ground signal overrun because I got it too positive. So, instead of setting it to the worst ground in my area, I just set it to the most common ground and it worked great.

Did you set it alittle on the positive side or about neutral or alittle negative. Thanks slingshot & the rest of you that replied to my question. Steve.

- - unless you just want to tinker around in the box. It is probably about as good as it will get, as is.
Any minor differences you can affect will probably not amount to much practical benefit, and you stand the risk of mucking something up in the bargain.

Hi Steve,
I would definitely leave it a little positive.... If you had a coin buried at 8" or so and and could
set the GB perfect.. No change to the threshold when lowered to the ground, it might get a little better signal
on the deep coin... "But without the ability to change the GB on the faceplate".. I would suggest
leaving it a little positive for your ground conditions... It will work much better overall and have very little difference
in overall depth....

Yeah I will probably leave it alone although I am not worried about mucking it up. Steve.

Hi Jeff, long time no hear how ya been buddy. I will leave it as it is, maybe if I decide to keep it for along time I will add an adjustable ground balance mod. to it. Steve.

probably leave it just as it is now. Unless we've hunted in YOUR ground, we don't know the conditions. If it just barely increases as the coil gets to the ground, then a very slightly positive GB ought to be Okay.

Could you possibly enhance the performance in the motion Discriminate mode if you 'Power Balanced' the detector, or simply tweaked the GB just a touch negative in All Metal/Pinpoint? Yes, you could. However, due to the fact that it has the AM/PP mode function, and you're certainly going to be using it, then just leave it as it is. Now, if you had one of the four Bandido models, or an Eldorado

Steve, I moved it just slightly from positive to where it JUST goes quiet-a teeny move. It may have been a hair more positive than as new. I think the main thing was I just didn't want it too far on the negative side. This setting gave it the quietness it had before I moved it but I could tell it was a hair more responsive. I'm not touching it again!
