Well went out today and hit some fresh sidewalk tare outs. Hit the first spot only a 50 ft. section but it looked good. Got the usual clad then hit a 1897 IH penny. Also got a cool button and some trash. Next i went to a older part of town where they just dug out more sidewalks and grass strips for one city block both sides so I was excited and knew I was the first one to md out here today virgin ground. I hunted for about a hour found a little clad and but not much else. They took about a foot of dirt off the top so I was wondering if all the good stuff was hauled away in a dump truck. I was getting tired and seen a older house down the road that looked much older then the rest of the so I decided to skip the rest of the strip and finish up in front of that house. I took 10 steps and hit a screamer about 6 inches down thought to myself silver. Under all of our sidewalks here is yellow sand like beach sand so I dug down with my hand and could feel something big. Heart started jumping but with people watching I didn't wanna ack like a crazy weirdo. Finally cleaned off the sand looked with excitement and seen a 1878 Morgan Dollar. This is my first big silver and my oldest silver yet I know this is a once and a lifetime find with a md most likely. I couldn't believe it. It cleaned up nice but has some sand on the back that's not coming off. What a great day also found another button just like the one I found on the other street 5 miles away, a thimble, hermonica reed, old spoon, more clad and some old trash.
