Sidewalk Hunting????????

Rob O Mighty

New member
Anyone know the rules and regulations for sidewalk hunting. Been thinking about it. Just don't know the dos and donts . Could use a lot of feed back and pointers.
Thanks for your help....

Recently ( Last Year) our city turned over ownership to the property owner....... Till then curb areas were city owned property.... Yes one was wise to ask the homeowner before digging on their
area of curb lawn. ( Only reasonable) of course. But it was city owned, and most people didn't mind you checking along the city side of sidewalks.. Now it just doesn't happen much as people now own it, and want it, like the rest of their yard, to be respected private property.

No matter who owns it..I would say ask the property owner where the sidewalk runs through for permission. IT WOULD BE THE REASONABLE THING TO DO !!!

Rob, first off, the sidewalks and around driveways I am currently hunting are around a park and go through turf that once had activity but no longer does. Consequently, no home owners to deal with. Hunting city side walk strips are a whole other ballgame. In many towns and cities these easement strips are actually considered part of the street and thus owned by the city.....but, maintained by the home owner. Since they maintain them, they often consider them theirs. I do hunt them around old parks, school yards and the like, but shy away from residential strips. I am not a "for permission" door knocker and shy away from confrontations. HH jim tn
