those aren't re-touched photographs... This guy uses chalk for this stuff... He actually distorts the drawings in such a way as to give it a 3D effect when viewed from the correct angle.
Here's an example:
This is a sidewalk chalk drawing of a globe

However, when viewed from above, this is what it looks like. The drawing is actually 40 feet long!
