:shrug:SAND SCOOP QUESTION!!

Member
i JUST GOT MY SAND SCOOP IN ,MY QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU WALK AROUND WITH IT IN WATER ITS ABOUT 8 TO 10 LBS,CAN I DO SOMETHING TO MAKE IT FLOAT,
AND IT HAS TWO MAGNETS IN IT SHOULD I TAKE THEM OUT????I USED A LITTLE SCOOP I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN DEEP WATER WITH A DETECTOR ,THE HANDLE IS ABOUT 48 INCHES!!!!ANY TIPS ON WHAT I CAN DO WHAT DO MOST DO????IS IT OK TO MAKE IT FLOAT????THANKS:rage:

Which scoop do you have?

I have the diamond head scoop and the handle is filled to make it float, course the basket stays on the ground. When I detect in the water I drag the scoop behind me.

I saw a someone else that put a string and a float on their scoop so they can keep track of it.

I WAS THINKING COULD I SPRAY FOAM IN THE HANDLE SO IT WILL FLOAT????? AND TIE A LITTLE ROPE TO IT>>

Sounds heavy to me, I just carry mine over my shoulder, carry in left hand or drag it from my divers weight belt, hook on the belt, little rope loop on the top of the scoop handel, of course you cant drag it in rough salt water, it would be banging into your legs. Just try it out and see what works for you.

Makes me glad I bought a Babbs scoop.. the thought of dragging around a 7 pound scoop would make me go back to dirt digging lol...

I use a painters pot hook on my belt to help with the weight an to help balance as i walk. I just carry it but after about 4 hours it gets a little heavy. I use a beach brute. COTTON

Hi Cotton, I was going to get the Beach Brute Pro, sent over to OZ. Are you happy with the purchase? It's a toss up between the BBP and the Diamond head for me. I've tried the diamond head, one of my detecting partners has one, I liked the way it performed in the sand and water. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

I shot some foam into the upper handle of mine but it got water logged so i just tie wrapped a peace of swimming noddle to the top part of the handle and that works well just have to sweeze out the water once in a while you might try slidding a peice of wood into the handle too as it swelled from getting wet it would hold it in place?

How good is the Babbs on getting stuff out fast?

How heavy is it too?

Thanks!:detecting:

I have no problems and its light because its aluminum but I can dig in the rocks with the stainless lip... I have used it going on 3 years now with no issues.. I have a stainless scoop as well but it's regulated as a back up as its heavy...

and if you need to add about 15" of this 1" pipe insolation to the handel (buy at Lowes) under the red grip it is poked full of this foam!

not only makes it easy to transport scoop, speed up target recovery so yo spend more time looking for stuff in the bottom instead of bottom of your scoop.
