HOPE IT GETS BETTER SOON I GOT ONE MORE DAY TILL I LEAVE FOR VA BEACH AND OUTER BANKS HOPE TO HAVE SOME GOOD LOOT TO POST!!

When you get back from VA beach, tell us some stories of how nice it is to hunt beaches that AREN'T chuck full of lobster trap parts!

Have fun - don't let him have all the loot though Max - we don't want him coming back thinking his better than us

I tried to tell you before...hunting down here is MUCH better during the summer than the fall and winter. I know you say up your way the opposite is true. I wish you luck down here. I'm not saying you won't find anything but I don't think you will find MUCH. The place gets pretty well picked clean about a month after the tourists leave. Now we did just have a decent storm and there's a little more in store for tonight/tomorrow, so maybe if you're lucky some things will move around. But I have spent 4 hours on the beach before in the winter and come back with literally ONE PENNY. Of course an outing THAT bad is rare. Let's see how you do.

......Real simple explanation....Your beaches are replenished....hence....lotsa clean, new sand (many feet in most cases) over the "old Beach". In the winter there isn't the volume of targets moving around in the sand. As a result, less good stuff to find. Atlantic City is like that now since the replenishment 3 years ago....we used to find a variety of coins and jewelry in the winter and we would do great after the winter nor'easters. 3 of us dug over 400 silver coins in a 3 day weekend one year after a storm. can't remember how much gold but it was substantial. That's why I tell people to go find the beach that hasn't been replenished in a while (not many left but they are out there). I hunted an older beach today and in 3 hours still managed to dig about 65 coins and a silver earring in the wetsand. it was spread out in pockets but the stuff was there.....going back tommorrow and hopefully will get that gold ring.....HH.....Brian

You're exactly right...and I'm well aware of that. I remember well the stories from Dan (Pa) and others about Atlantic City and the old coins they used to find there. And then the dreaded replenishment. They brought in about 300 yards of sand here and replenish it every year. You can't BUY a silver coin here any more unless there's a storm. I remember after Hurricane Isabel I found a skeleton key, an old 14K and onyx ring, and a Merc dime on the beach here and I was floored. I see what Beachhunter finds up his way and I know his beaches have not been replenished. Sometimes I wish that was the case here. But them I look at the approximately $6000+ worth of jewelry I found this summer and I think..."Wer'e doing just FINE here!" :)

I just don't hunt the beach this time of year...I do old coin and relic hunting, which is quite good here. My beach hunting is late May to late September and after winter storms.

last winter they hauled in ton after ton now the flat is full of soft sand the gold sinks out of reach in minutes!! we had the worst summer ever due to this!! I was lucky and pulled some good gold out of lakes and found a few old spots that keep giving up loot!!!It just amazes me how the replenishing kills the hunting!!we are lucky and still have some good old beaches that have been left alone!!we don't get the diamonds like VA Beach gets but we get alot of old gold and gold coins are not unheard of after a NOR'EASTER!!

You guys need to come down to the Gulf Coast. Things are a little slow but not bleek and plenty of diggers still around. Winter snowbirds are already on the way and plenty of vacationers

I need pictures to prove it
