Should the "beast" be this calm

I posted this on another forum & thought that I would run it by you's and get your thoughts.

Warmed up alittle today so I thought that I would take my new beast(Vaquero)outside and play with it. Not sure if this is common with the Vaquero or not but with all the other detectors I have had when I turn the sensitivity up all the way the detector becomes chirpy until I turn it down a bit. With the Vaquero I could run the sens. full bore and it was stable didn't chirp at all, I like the fact that a detector becomes unstable at full sens, kind of like a good race horse. Where I was testing it (coins on the ground) there is about 4 inches of hard packed snow and probably ice below that. I am thinking that is why there wasn't much of a change in the ground balance, didn't go really very negative or positive. I guess it can't read the ground being covered with snow & ice? The Vaquero had a very steady nice threshold, really smooth & the disc. is right on - a nickel knocks out right @ the nickel setting. I think the Vaq. will be a great machine just hoping that it will be as deep as my other Tesoro's I have had - like I mentioned it didn't chirp at max sens. setting (in the red). Thanks! Steve.

Come on Tesoro - I know that I am being a knit picker but this summer I ordered a new Silver uMax and when I got it the lower rod wouldn't slide into the upper rod - sent it back to Tesoro & they sent me new rods. Great service but it was brand new & cost me $$$ to get it there. After bought a new DeLeon - came with a bubble in the faceplate sticker, no biggy I lived with it. I got my new Vaquero this week, a nice gouge (heavy scratch) in the top of the coil like someone slide something sharp over it, works fine just the idea of paying good money for something new and not looking like new before you get to use it. I love Tesoro and their equipment but lets tighten up the quality control. Gripe over...

Hay Skiwiz,

I had a Cibola which is like a V without the Manual GB.

It is not uncommon to be able to turn the sens full bore.

One little draw back (if you want to call it that) is that
deeper targets sound shallow. To determin depth it is
best to turn the sens down. It will then give a weaker
signal for deeper targets. If it goes away, it's probably
real deep.

The V will go deeper than your other Tesoros unless
one of them is a Tejon.

Sorry about the defects in your detectors. I have never
bought a new Tesoro. All mine were in very good condition
when I received them. But I would be frustrated if it happen
to me.:veryangry: But if it didn't bother the performance in
any way, I would probably ignore it.
