Should I send my Umax Sidewinder in to have it tuned to the S-7 coil???

Or is it something I can do???? There's got to be a GB trim pot in it somewhere!

If the Sidewinder ground balance was okay with the standard coil you shouldn't notice much, if any, difference with the 7 inch coil, but if it's off you can set it. Take the screws our that hold the face plate on, carefully pull the face plate out and up and you'll see a couple of trim pots on the board. The ground balance trim pot is toward the right bottom side of the board, the pot on the left bottom side is for setting the threshold. Be careful as the pot is kind of fragile and just a slight turn makes a big difference.

Should I set it with a piece of ferrite? If so what mode AM?? I did it along time ago when changing the coil on my 1265x.(had to! it was way off) Can't remember? Or just wait till I get out in the dirt (someday!)

Ground balance is lower right. I would wait and set it using the ground.

I'd give it a trial run on the ground you generally hunt before you do anything. If the threshold rises slightly or stays pretty even as the coil approaches the ground, I'd leave it alone. My two bits.
