Should I sell my CZ6a and buy a C$?

Hi Folks:
You know, I really like my CZ6a, but after this weekend I'm wondering if I shouldn't upgrade. I went to an old school site... School was probably active in the 50s. The school building had been bulldozed. The ground was really trashy, and I was getting tons of iron signals and signals that wouldn't lock on with my CZ, even with a 5" coil. There was just too much iron and misc trash for me to hear anything. I pulled out a couple bronze parts and bottlecaps, but no coins.
I wonder if I should try a coinstrike? Trouble is, I can't afford to keep both.
I just know there's some old coins at this site...not many, perhaps, but there's gotta be some. They're likely pretty deep. Lots of sites like this around here, either trashed up or beat to death by other detectors (seems like EVERYBODY's got a detector in Chattanooga!)
So perhaps a new detector is needed. I mostly hunt public sites... parks, etc. and mostly coinshoot. Everyplace I go seems to be heavily trashed-up, though pulltabs are often more of a problem than iron. Not interested in relics. Some jewelry might be nice, but I'm not expecting the CS to be a gold machine. I do OK in clad, but the old stuff is VERY rare for me.
Any and all opinions appreciated!

Dixie Metal detectors, Ron will send you a to try out for a week, if you like it then buy it and Ron will usually work something out with you on trade ins, if you don't like it then return it. Ron can giveyou all the details on it.
You also have other detectors such as the CZ3d, which sounds like it might fit your bill as well for hunting old sites for the deep coins + its quite a bit like your CZ6a so no big learning curve there.

i bought a cz-6a when they first came out and its the best detector i have ever owned.i have had nautilus and garretts and have found that fisher make s the best detector ever.i only live about 5 miles from where the nautlis is made here in nc and have checked the two between each other ther is no comparison.in fact im buying the cz3d and also the coinstrike next week.but i will still love my cz6a.

It's easy for me to say keep 'em both, but you say you can't afford both so it's a hard decision. I have a 6a too & I love it as my "Rain unit". It's waterproofing is great to have & of course it's still goes deep. I think a C$ would be good for the hunting you describe, it's just a question if you really are ready/willing to tackle some completely new & different technology. Many CZ guys tried it briefly & hated it, so you really have to be determined to make the switch. Another thought if cost is an issue, is perhaps looking into a used ID- Excel. The Excel with sensitivity up is almost as deep as a C$, & will get you the coins outta the trash that the 6a masks out. I see used Excels for only $300 on classifieds <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> & there's no better ID detector out there for that price point.....HH. Thanks, everyone, for your input. Ken Herre offered to sell me one at a good price, so I think I'm gonna get his and try it out. If I can sell my telescope on eBay, then I should be able to keep both for awhile. Then I can decide which one to keep.
I've been researching this detector as much as possible on the internet. Looks like some folks love them, and some don't. I figure I've just gotta try for myself and see what all the fuss is about! So thanks again, and happy hunting-BG

from Wildherre, but it hasn't arrived yet. Still on the fence about keeping the CZ... some things I like (like the depth, good performance on the beach, etc) but others I don't (like having to dig a crater and coming up with iron!) though I realize it's one of the best detectors Fisher built.
Thanks very much to everyone for your help. I've been compiling a bunch of the more "how-to" posts, and you folks are much more helpful to us newbies than you realize! Thanks for sharing your expertise and encouragement.
