should I replace the battery in my Deus remote or have them do it?

I've had my Deus for 4 years now and the battery in the remote lasts most of the day where it used to last 2 long days of detecting so I think its getting time to replace the battery. Has any of you replaced the battery yourself? Fairly easy? Where to get the proper battery? or should I send it in to Moe and have them do it? Any of you know what that cost is?
thanks and GL & HH to ya'll

My remote has gotten to be much the same way,,,doesn't seem to hold that much of a charge anymore either.
There are a number of videos on the battery replacement , even batteries that have better capacity and still fit , although snug.
It looks pretty simple and I would surely try it myself but the Nox will be out soon and I will be detecting with it instead so I can live with a weak battery in the Deus for awhile longer. I think you should replace your own and , report back to us if you screw it up so we will know not to try it ourselves:thumbup:

i'll keep going til it gets cold and do the research of how to do it, get the battery and do the deed. i'l, let you know how it goes.

Hi Marty, I think I would send it in to have it changed, it you don't get it in right and it leeks water you are out a lot of money. You should call and see how much it is to get it replaced. You just need to send the coil that should not cost much. When mine need change I will send it in. Good luck if you do it yourself. flintstone

I would leave it to the main agents service engineer.

The controllers cost to much money to take any chances.;)

Happy Hunting,

Yes if you are a do it yourself kind of guy, and your warranty is up and that is your choice. I changed mine over a year ago And I have also changed battery in my iPhone. Make sure u wear a ground strap whenever u open up any digital device so u don't send a static charge across the components. It is easy, just remove the four screws and gently unstick the battery from the remote and unplug it. Stick the new battery in place and plug it in. Put the case together and seat the 4 screws. The bsttery is on Ebay for 14.00 and comes with instructions. Like others say, it is an expensive device and if u are squemish about it don't do it.

sounds relatively easy Listener... I'll probably give it a try. I doo all kinds of stuff like this so I should be able to tackle this project.

Please be aware the 14.00 dollar battery is 680mah where the original battery is 630mah and is smaller. You can also buy these on Ebay but they are over 20 bucks with shipping. I used the 630mah because it allows for swelling with age common with this type of battery. I personally would not use the 680mah because it is larger and barely fits in the allotted space in the remote. Although the larger battery will hold a charge longer there is a downside that it will swell and distort your remote.

Listener , what's the best way to ground yourself. I live in a dry climate with plenty of static , especially if the wind is blowing.

Any bare copper wire wrapped around your wrist or ring and connected to a water pipe or any earth ground rod will work. Most home electrical boxes are also grounded and u can attach the wire to the switch plate screw.

great tip. . I will use the smaller capacity one as it worked fine for these last 4 years.
