Should I, or Shouldn’t I?

I have an E-TRAC that I’ve only used a few times that I’ve been thinking about parting with, but another side of me is saying to hold onto it because it’s an iconic machine. I wound up getting a CTX-3030 and an Equinox 800 shortly after buying the E-TRAC and they’ve been my go to machines ever since. What do my fellow detectorists think?

Thats a tough one. I would personally hang on to it. I never had the E-Trac, but I have the CTX. I know they're very similar so it would be a great backup, plus the E-Trac was discontinued. But if I needed the money I would part with it.

I have all 3, and it is the one I use the most. My nox is for sale locally-- need to get it boxed up and for sale here.

Three iconic machines in their own right…and people use them according to how well they perform for individual needs, how well the operator “gets along them” and other reasons I’m sure. Whichever of the three used the least would be my choice to move, if I needed to move something. There’s no denying the eTrac has proven itself to thousands of users for many years. But if you’re not using it, there’s nothing wrong with letting it go. I’m like that…if I ain’t using something or don’t have a planned use for it, it moves. The eTrac or any of those machines has the strong possibility of really bringing someone else’s hunting to a new level…if you think about it in those terms.

I would stick with it. I have one and I love it.It is pretty accurate for identifying objects and it has never let me down.

If you love it, you should keep it. But that's just my opinion.

If you like it, keep it. As you said, it's iconic. It'll be a good backup if one of your other detectors fail. But on the other hand, if the rumor is true Minelab no longer supports the E-trac, then you could potentially end up being the owner of a very expensive paperweight if craps out on you. I suppose that's why some are advising dumping it. It's a tough decision that only you can make. Best of luck!

I've got one and i don't think its particularly iconic.But iconic or not the etrac is just another detector that came to the market and is now overlooked by most.If you want a decent return for it you need to sell it now.......prices are dropping.Its still a great machine that will find the user loads of finds but lighter high performing machines like the nox,deus etc make it look like a dinosaur these days.
